Dear Galway Association of New York Members,

I hope you and your family are staying healthy and safe during this difficult time.  Here is an update for you on the current status of our Association:

Galway Association of New York Outreach Program

In April, we launched the Galway Association of New York Outreach Program.  We continue to offer this program.  If you, a family member, or friend would like to be contacted for a chat, to hear about news from Ireland or anything else, we will pair you up with one of our volunteer members.  That volunteer will reach out by phone once a week or as often as the participant and the volunteer agree upon to keep in touch.  Our goal for this program is to help people feel connected during the pandemic and know that our members are here to help if needed.  More information and sign-up details here https://www.galwayassociationofny1881.org/outreach/

Sláinte 2020 Donation

In June, we donated $2,500 of our Association’s funds to Sláinte 2020.  The goal of Sláinte 2020 is “to harness the collective reach of well-known Irish organizations to provide financial relief for Irish individuals and families adversely impacted by the COVID-19 crisis in the tri-state area.”  More information on Sláinte 2020 here https://www.slainte2020.org/

Membership and Donations

We can make this donation to Sláinte 2020 and many other donations throughout the year because of your membership and support and so I ask you to renew your membership to the Association and consider a donation.  Our annual membership fee is just $25 for new members and $20 for existing members.  Please encourage others to apply for membership, renew their membership, or consider a donation.  You can make an online transaction on the membership page on our website where you can also find our mailing address if you would prefer to send a check https://www.galwayassociationofny1881.org/become-a-member/

September 2020 Meeting

Because of COVID-19, we will not have an in-person meeting in September.  The meeting will take place via Zoom and phone on Friday, September 18th at 7pm.  Join us for this important meeting where we will discuss regular Association business, future events, and the topic of how we can serve our members and the community during the pandemic.  Send an email to frannykellynyc@gmail.com for meeting details.

Again, I hope you and your families both here and in Ireland are safe and healthy.  If there is anything I can do or we can do as an Association to help please do not hesitate to contact me.

Franny Kelly

President, The Galway Association of New York
